Hoolie Little People Week Long Hunt Begins

Watch out…the Little Hoolie people are about!  New to this year’s event, the characters from our logo will be place in different 10 locations throughout the village of Killearn.  Each one will be numbered, with ten in total to find and if you follow us on Facebook we may give out the odd clue! For each one that you ‘seek’ out, take a photograph or even better a ‘selfie’ and send it to moc.t1531970845enret1531970845nitb@1531970845nworb1531970845.rfnj1531970845 and we will post them here on our website…..there may even be prize for the first person with all 10!  So whether you are out for a nice stroll around the village, going to school or taking part in the Hoolie Festivities keep your eyes peeled and remember a little person might be watching you!

Treasure Hunt

Killearn Kirk  – 2pm – 5pm – Rehearsal; 6.30pm – Concert

Come and SING! – You’ve seen the films. You’ve been to the shows. You probably know the songs. Now come and SING them. This is an event        for everyone who just loves to sing. Or maybe you haven’t sung since you were at school. Don’t worry! There is no audition, no need to read music. You just have to bring your voice, your enthusiasm and a sense of fun.

This event, run by the Strathendrick Singers, is hosted by Musical Director, MARK EVANS, who is Director of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, and works extensively with the National Youth Choir of Scotland.

Come and SING’, we’ll meet and register at 2pm and rehearse for 3 hours, with a generous break where tea, coffee, and delicious home baking will    be  available for sale. After a break at 5pm, the short concert will start at 6.30pm, and we will showcase our achievements to the rest of the community. Bring along your family, and let them see and hear what you can do!

The Wee Fling

Killearn Village Hall – 4pm till 7pm
This is a family ceilidh for children, their parents and friends dancing to traditional Celtic Music – under the guidance of a caller.

Entry Adults £7 to include a Pulled Pork Baguette –Vegetarian option available

Entry Children £4 to include a Posh Mini Hot Dog (Children under one enter for free if not eating)

Commonwealth Flag Making

Heron House – 10am till 12pm
Researching some of the flags in the Commonwealth will be a great way for the children to learn colours, shapes, country locations etc.  We cannot wait to see all the different flag designs.  Open to children of Heron House and anyone else who would like to join in.

Beetle Drive

Church Hall – 7pm till 9.30pm

Killearn Golden Years’ Club will hold a Beetle Drive in the Church Hall on Tuesday 10th June 2014 for adults & children as part of the Hoolie Week  events.

A Beetle Drive is an old family favourite game where players throw dice and e.g a 6 on the dice starts the beetle body, a 4 to add a wing etc -suitable for   all  ages and great fun with prizes.

The evening will start at 7pm and finish around 9.30 with a break for tea/juice & home baking. Tickets cost £4 for adults & £2 for children.

Space is limited therefore booking is essential .Tickets will be available from Peter Rea (550432), Bob Ballantyne (550310) or Anne O’Neill (550605) from 27th May.

Wednesday 11th June

Toddlers Assault Course

Parent & Toddlers – Church Hall – 9.15am to 11.15am
Let the little ones burn off some of their energy with this inflatable toddler assault course.
Entry £1.50 for one child/ £2 for two children or more.  Children under 4 and parents/carers welcome. Snack will be provided.

Cheerleading Workshop – Killearn Primary School -3.15pm till 4.30pm

Brownies – The Brownies will be shown the basics of cheerleading by local girl Kathleen MacNab. Send us some photographs and let us know how you get on!

Sausage Sizzler – Killearn Park – 6.30pm till 8.30pm

Scouts/Beavers/Cubs of Killearn.

These 3 organisations will come together in Killearn Park for a game of rounders’ and a delicious sausage sizzle.  Sounds like fun!

Thursday 12th June

Hoolie Beach Party

Messy Play – Church Hall – 9.45am till 11.15am
Get creative at the Kirk with painting, gluing, sand, water, play dough and much more! Snack & tea/coffee supplied.  All children welcome along with parent/carers. Donations gratefully received.

Hoolie Hunt – Killearn Primary School – Various times throughout the day

 The school has opted for the Hoolie Hunt! Held in the school grounds, the P5’s will create a very exciting Treasure hunt for all the nursery and primary classes to participate. The theme will be an imaginative information gathering exercise to find out all the different events happening during the Hoolie Week!

Drop In Tea Party

Thursday Club- Killearn Church Hall -2pm till 4pm
Come along and meet old friends or make new ones.  All senior citizens welcome.

         Street Football

KFC- Killearn Park – 6.30pm
Prove your street is the best in Killearn! Rules- 5 players (and up to 5 subs) At least 1 player under 12yrs and at least 1 player over 40! Minimum of 3 games per team and entry is Free and open to all.  So why not chap your neighbour’s door, dust off your old footie boots and enjoy the fun.  Spectators welcome.

Friday 13th June

Creative Dance Work Shop

Killearn Nursery – 10.15 till 11.00 – Killearn P1 – 11.00am till 11.45am – Killearn Primary School
The children will participate in a fun and interactive creative dance workshop. Using the Commonwealth Games as the theme for the classes the children will enjoy an energetic and fun session learning some groovy moves!
